How to Prepare

Prepare your family and your home for the installation of your new living space

  • Clear the install area and create an ample pathway for workers to enter and exit your home.
  • If it's a kitchen remodel, you'll want to have all dishes and kitchen accessories packed up and out of the way. Keep your more useful bowls and utensils handy and set up a temporary kitchen space near a sink. Paper plates, easy to prepare foods and a microwave or toaster oven will see you through.
  • Remodels mean dust. Be armed with drop cloths and furniture coverings.
  • Make sure your family is aware of the install schedule and steers clear of workers and materials. Children must be kept out of the work areas for safety. Schedule play dates and sitters in advance.
  • Call in all those dinner invitation IOUs and collect your favorite takeout menus, they'll come in very handy.
