Tips for Finding and Communicating Your Personal Style
YOUR PERSONAL STYLE IS ALL ABOUT THE THINGS YOU LOVE
To get a great head start on defining your style so that you can ultimately share it with your designer, it really helps to put together a collection of the things that you love. Include everything. Surf the web. Get shots of your favorite kinds of furniture, room settings, paintings and posters. Cut out pictures from magazines—and not just remodeling magazines, but People, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and anything else that defines a style you are drawn to, even if it’s not a shot of an interior. Have a look at artifacts from your travels. A rug, a statue, even a snapshot of a garden, landscape or cityscape can help define your style, and could be the spark that creates a living space that is uniquely you.
The Waypoint Living Spaces® StyleQuiz is a fun way to find out more about your style taste. Pour a cup of coffee, go to our site, and answer a few questions, like; “Which of these dishes pleases your palate the most?” or “Which of these destinations is most like your ideal getaway spot?” At the end of the quiz you’ll be able to save your results to social media so that you can share your them with your Waypoint Living Spaces® Dealer/Designer.
Pinterest and Instagram are two amazing social media apps to search for style inspiration. On your Pinterest account, create a board just for your design project, then start pinning! Include anything that captures your attention—if the color intrigues you, if the style inspires you, if the photo speaks to you in any way, just pin it. When you look back over your board, you’ll begin to see a pattern emerge. This is part of your unique style! Then there’s Instagram, and it’s just as inspiring as Pinterest. And now you can share the posts you like on Instagram to your Facebook page to save for later, or you can take a screen shot of the image and save it on your phone.
WAYPOINT LIVING SPACES MAGAZINE
When you visit your local Waypoint Living Spaces® Dealer/Designer, make sure to ask for a copy of our free design magazine. It’s full of product information and design ideas to help you see the many style possibilities you can achieve with our wide range of cabinet door styles, finishes and accessories.
TRANSLATING THE THINGS YOU LOVE INTO THE PERFECT LIVING SPACE
The first time you meet with your designer, bring your style collection with you. Explain why you chose what you did. Fear not—you won’t be considered foolish. Your elements of style will speak to him or her on a level too deep for words. A good designer will take your input, process it and translate it into a new living space that’s all about you, your style and personality. You and your Waypoint® authorized designer will be off to a great start.
