WAYPOINT LIVING SPACES® 5th ANNUAL SHOWCASE YOUR SPACE REMODEL CONTEST
Best Bath Design—Craig J. Couture of Cypress Design Co.
Last week we showed you the winning kitchen design from our latest “Showcase Your Space” Remodel Contest. This week we’ll take a look at the winner of the best bath design.
Our winning bath design comes from Craig J. Couture for Cypress Design Co. in East Providence, Rhode Island. Craig is a very talented designer who can work in varying styles from classic traditional to minimalist modern. Earning a BFA in Interior Design, plus his extensive work experience, has given him the opportunity to develop a strong working knowledge of these styles as well as everything in between. Constant research through trade magazines, design blogs and social media helps to keep him on top of constantly changing design trends.
“I truly enjoy working at Cypress Design Co. and the approach it takes with customers. There is a strong sense of team work and customer service that cannot be found anywhere else. Making sure that all of our customers are educated consumers and keeping their best interest in mind always creates timeless designs and a customer who is more than satisfied at the end of the day.” Craig J. Shopping on the internet is convenient because you can peruse different reno products and materials at the same time, right from your sofa. But if you’re like me, I want to see and touch before I buy! Cypress Design Co. brings together the best of both worlds by supplying homeowners with a great selection of kitchen and bath remodeling products, as well as amazing designers, all in one showroom. This eliminates the need to shop in multiple locations or online. And they not only do all of the measuring and ordering, they will also receive and store the client’s materials in their climate-controlled warehouse until time for installation! (#handsclap!) So if you’re in Rhode Island, Massachusetts or Connecticut, look them up.
Now, more about Craig’s gorgeous design!
So, the client’s bathroom before the reno, was well, very beige. The tile on the floor was beige, the tile on the wall was beige, the toilet and sink were beige, the vanity countertop was beige and brown, and finally the vanity was dark brown! This space definitely needed a breath of fresh air as well as a fresh color palette! The client wish list included double sinks, a larger shower area, a gray and white color scheme to match the master bedroom, all with a spa-like, relaxing feel.
Craig made it happen for his clients in their new master bath. Love it when a well-executed design plan comes together! Now, let’s talk about when style meets function.
The soft, neutral color palette with airy whites and cool grays, plus the reflection from the double vanity mirrors, all add up to a lighter, brighter, expanded living space. (#livingfresh) The furniture vanity looks like a custom piece—love the rich detail provided by the Parker Decorative Foot. The 410 Painted Stone door style delivers just the right amount of transitional balance.
In this design, Craig proves how well a design can function when furnishings are chosen based on how the clients will use the space. The vanity bases are the perfect solution with plumbing access cleverly hidden behind the closed cabinet doors. A design point to note, not overlooking a single storage opportunity, Craig trimmed out the bottom of each vanity for an open shelf area. (#handsclap) He included a four-drawer base in the center of the double master vanity for a keen solution for those everyday pampering items that take up so much bathroom storage. The coordinating center cabinet tower provides ample versatile storage and creates symmetrical division between the his and hers sinks.
When we asked Craig to tell us a little about his project and experience with Waypoint® cabinetry, here’s what he said.
Craig: “Our clients were fed up with their outdated bathroom and small shower stall. They wanted a spa-like master bathroom that would be a retreat from their busy lives. Their existing bathroom did not function for their everyday lives. They only had one sink, a small shower and a water-jetted tub that did not work. The goals were to create a relaxing space that functioned for two, and to enlarge the shower for a better bathing experience”.
Craig: “Waypoint Living Spaces® was an easy choice for this remodel. Our clients were looking for a white and gray bathroom that worked off of their current master bedroom color palette. The Painted Stone finish and 410 shaker style door fit in seamlessly with the other selections. We were able to create a custom “furniture” style vanity for our clients and gain them so much functional storage, while still providing a quality product that would hold up for years to come.”
Craig: “I have been working with Waypoint Living Spaces® for 5 years and have come to learn and appreciate the line. When I start a new design in 2020 I always start with Waypoint®, since the catalog is user friendly and I can work my ideas out quickly. Through my experience I have found the quality control to be top notch, and if there is an issue the partner team is extremely effective in resolving the problem. I also have a great relationship with our representative, which makes a world of difference when suggesting a cabinetry line to a potential client. Every year the offerings expand a little more and I am always excited to start designing with the new products.”
Congratulations, Craig and Cypress Design Co. for winning Best Bath Design in our “Showcase Your Space” Remodel Contest.
