Sherwin Williams Color of the Year

In March 2025, we excitedly introduced Painted Oat into our lineup of premium painted finishes. A natural, earth tone, Painted Oat is an organic hue that is bringing warmth and dimension to light and bright kitchen and bath designs. Later this year, Sherwin Williams unveiled their 2026 color of the year: Universal Khaki, “Tailored and timeless. Find strength in simplicity with an essential neutral selected by our color experts for its beautiful balance of livability and longevity.”

We could not agree more with Sherwin Williams color of the year 2026, and we love how strikingly similar it is to our adaptable, Painted Oat. Universal Khaki by Sherwin Williams is described as “the easygoing neutral that makes every room feel pulled together”.  Warm earthy tones like Oat and Universal Khaki pair beautifully with natural textures, crisp whites, or bold accents. It’s no wonder it is the Color of the Year and one of several trending paint colors. 

As nearly every major paint company has released their color of the year, we are seeing 2026 color trends that are rich, organic, and moody. Paint color trends include shades of beige, dark greens, and warm brown hues.
